Bone and Joint has added a new service line to further enhance the patient experience and expand the continuity of care.

In December 2018, Bone & Joint will become a total orthopedic and pain management care center.  Bone & Joint will add a full range of physical and occupational therapy services at their Plover and Wausau locations. These services are the perfect complement for the urgent and acute orthopedic care supplied by more than 20 orthopedic specialists in northern and central Wisconsin.

“Adding physical and occupational therapy services allows us to offer our patients a fully integrated continuum of care from initial diagnosis to final treatment,” said Terry Lawrence, Bone & Joint’s Chief Executive Officer. “With the introduction of our physical and occupational therapy division, we can help people move better at all stages of care and recovery.

“Our patients can receive all their care under one roof,” said Lawrence. “The opportunity for our entire in-house orthopedic, pain management, and physical therapy team to communicate about individual care plans ensures our patients receive the best orthopedic care available.”

How does physical therapy help?

Physical therapy helps you add strength and flexibility to your muscles, ligaments, and tendons for better performance or better outcomes after surgery. Doctors prescribe physical therapy before and after surgery or after injury or illness to restore your movement and help you achieve your goals by:

  • Helping you heal faster
  • Reducing your pain level
  • Increasing your range of motion
  • Minimizing the effects of scar tissue
  • Maximizing your fitness level

Bone & Joint’s medical team understands fully integrated orthopedic services provide you with the care you need to get back to your life as fast and pain-free as possible.

What’s the difference between physical therapy and occupational therapy?

Physical therapy helps your joints and muscles regain range-of-motion after illness and injury. Occupational therapy helps people retrain their muscles after a severe illness or injury interferes with their ability to perform normal daily movements needed to function at home or work.

Whether you need a joint replacement, ACL reconstruction, or rotator cuff repair, our top-rated orthopedic team of surgeons, sports medicine providers, pain management specialists, and physical and occupational therapists have the expertise to provide you with personalized care based on your condition.

Bone & Joint’s goal is to help you move better so you can get back to life on your terms.
